If you do not know how to use a sewing machine and have no one

to help you learn, visit sewing machine dealers.

Tell them what you want to be able to sew and that you have a budget.

They will help you select a machine that is right for you.

If you have any questions or need help with the machine, they will be
there for you.

Some dealers have classes, if you are interested in this.

If you go to a Vacuum/Sewing machine store - why these two repairs/sales

go together is beyond me, they usually have trade-ins that they have

overhauled. The benefit there is that if something goes wrong, they will
fix it & you should have some kind of warranty. You can buy a good used
Kenmore (which I think is the best low-cost machine) but again, buy from a
dealer - warranty is everything. Too many things can go wrong until you
know what you are doing. There are also Brothers out there that are
awesome & inexpensive - & there are other good brands.

I suggest you find a vacuum/sewing sales/repair shop & see what they have
in a used (cheap) machine. Tell them what you have to spend & see if
they can not help you - & ask about the warranty. Also BE SURE to ask
them to thoroughly show you how to use the machine - that is worth $100
right there!!! If you buy from ebay or the newspaper/craig is list,
etc. you have no assistance & if you are starting, you need to have help
with the machine till you learn how to work out the bugs yourself - & you
will in time know how to do that.

Good luck & happy sewing. Take a sewing class somewhere - making a
small project to start - they help you learn how to cut out things & sew,
etc. Cheap classes are available for beginners at quilt shops - a great
place to learn to sew.

Used machines are about your best bet at that price range.
